Idle Times Bike Shop Inc. is a full service bicycle business with four locations to serve all of your bicycling needs, including individual bike rentals and group rentals. We are located adjacent to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Our main store, which is located at 188 Brackett Road, N. Eastham, can provide complete repair service on all brands of bicycles including frame repairs; our seasonal locations can provide minor and emergency repairs.

Idle Times Bike Shop Inc. mechanics are certified by the Barnett Bicycle Institute, a nationally recognized training program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We also have a certified USA Cycling Coach.  Our focus is family-oriented, but we stock high-end bike accessories, parts and bicycles and are knowledgeable in every facet of the sport of bicycling.  We offer a complete line of bicycle accessories and bicycles by the best manufacturers. Cape Cod is home to some of the best cycling in New England today. It is the home of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a twenty-eight mile long network of bike paths. Idle Times Bike Shop Inc. is located adjacent to this trail, which has been completely renovated over the past two years by the Department of Environmental Management, Division of Forests and Parks.

History

Idle Times Bike Shop Inc. opened its doors in 1981 in the Town Center Plaza in N. Eastham, MA. The original owners were Donald and his father, Harold Watson. Their vision was to operate Idle Times as a family-friendly bike store. They successfully operated several locations for twenty-five years along the bike trails on the Cape.

Peter Noble-Cass, the new owner, worked with the original owners for almost 20 years. He began his employment while in the ninth grade at Nauset Regional High School and worked both part and full-time while working on his Masters Degree and PHD. Peter’s love of bicycling over the years lured him to take over the business when they decided to retire. With his background in bicycle racing and touring, it was a natural fit.

The store has seen families grow up with us and now their children are our customers as well. This relationship with our customers is the very essence of how we operate our business and will continue into the next generation.

Speaking of new generations, Peter and his wife Rebecca now have their own young son, Jedidiah. You may see them in the shop from time to time as Jedidiah is starting his industry training at a very young age.
